Hall, Sara Yost
Sara Yost Hall, 80, of Radford passed away Friday, December 9, 2011. Our Lord needed another angel in heaven and he calls our precious, wonderful, loved one to fill that position in his kingdom with Sara Y. Hall. Sara was born March 2, 1931 in North Tazewell, Va. to the late Charles and Letha Yost. Sara was a graduate of Radford College in 1950. She then went to work in Amonate for The Pocahontas Coal Company as a bookkeeper. Sara married her husband, Donald C. Hall, a Korean War veteran in February, 1952. She and her husband returned to Radford in 1953. Don went to work at the Radford Arsenal in 1953 and Sara was employed at Radford College. She served as secretary to Doctor Charles Martin, 1955 to 1973. She then went on to serve as Doctor Dedmon’s secretary from 1973 until her retirement in 1990. During Sara’s tenure she developed a great friendship with Jehan Sadat, the First Lady of Egypt. Sara held a state dinner in honor of Mrs. Sadat at her home. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald C. Hall Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Donald C. Hall; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Karen Hall, of Summerville, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Ruth Keesee Hall, of Athens, Tenn.; granddaughters and spouses, Kimberly and Tim Passmore, Sara and Steve Buckley, Lindsay and Justin Lapointe, Lauren and Jonathan Stamey; grandson and spouse, Matt and Heather Hall; six great-grandchildren, MaKayla, Layleigh, Leah, Karigan, Gideon, and Haley. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday December 12, 2011 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
