Sally Jane Gleason Hall (Jane), age 92 of Pulaski, died Saturday morning, July 5, 2014 in Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin. Jane was a resident of Commonwealth Assisted Living in Radford, having moved there in February. Prior to that, she lived in Pulaski and Roanoke.

She was born on June 18, 1922 in Pulaski County, and was the daughter of the late Robert Emmett Gleason and Dora Smith Gleason. The youngest of 10 children, she grew up in a log house at the base of Draper Mountain, and recalled days during the great depression when all they had to eat were huckleberries that she and her mother and siblings picked on the mountainside.

In January, 1943 she married John Melvin Hall of Pulaski, who was home on leave from the Army at the time. She was widowed in 1991, when he died unexpectedly.

She is survived by two sons: Ronald Bruce Hall and his wife Linda of Pulaski, John Bland Hall and his wife Dana of Heathsville, VA: 2 daughters; Brenda Hall Thacker and her husband David of Waynesboro, and Elizabeth Ann Hall Hu and her husband Stanley of Davidsonville, MD: a sister; Elizabeth Dilorenzo of Garden City, NJ. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; David Hall, Stuart Hall, Kimberly Leininger, Robin Turner, Isabel Hall, Lydia Hu Haughton and Andrew Hu, along with 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lones and the Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. service time.
