George Bennett Hall, 85 years old, of Riner, went home on Friday, March 16, 2012, surrounded by family and loved ones. 2 Corinthians 5:8-…to be absent from the body, and be present with the Lord.

George was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of VPI and SU and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in World War II.

He is preceded in death by a loving wife, Juanita Iris Shelor Hall; his brother, Joseph Jackson Hall; and sister, Annie Hall Young. Surviving is his wife, Lois Duncan Hall, a remarkable Lady who loved and is loved, unselfishly staying by his side, hand in hand, throughout his journey through this life. He is also survived by a daughter, Linda Hall Keith of Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, George B. Jr. and Debbie Hall of Riner; a special “son”, Basil D. Reed of Riner; grandson, Michael F. King of Pulaski; granddaughter and husband, Stacy L. and Donnie Tawney of Dublin; six great- grandchildren; three nephews, Tommy Hall, Jackie Hall and Robert Young; and special caregivers, Tammy Journell, Sunni Cassell and Janice Smith.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 18, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Patterson and Pastor Jerry Otey officiating.
