Habernigg, Jewel Carter

Jewel Ann Carter Habernigg “Granny Jew Jew”, 79 of Christiansburg and formerly of Pembroke, departed this life early Wednesday morning, September 9, 2015 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg. Born in Pembroke on July 14, 1936, she was one of twelve children of the late Henry Thomas and Cora Allean Niece Carter.

For over 30 years she was employed at Electro Tec in Blacksburg and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at New River Ward in Pembroke, and was a 1955 graduate of Pembroke High School (The Corn Cutters). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kennis Lowe Habernigg, her infant daughter Kendra Kaye Habernigg, and ten brothers and sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Sabrina Habernigg and Raquel Sisson both of Christiansburg; her granddaughters Keegan Dare Bickel of Greensboro, NC and Kenzie Jade Sisson of Christiansburg; and her sister Mary Kathryn Duncan of Newport.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward, in Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
