Linda Plemons Haak, age 77, of Asheboro, N.C. died, Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born at home in Manchester, GA, on March 13, 1941 to the late Jess and Alice Collier Plemons. She was delivered by Madge Bonner, an old friend of Alice, and a World War II army nurse.

She was preceded in death by her half sister, Josephine Ellis.

Linda was the Valedictorian (first in her class, 1959) at Manchester High School in Manchester, GA. She was taught by Regina Pinkston, an Agnes Scott graduate. Ms. Pinkston influenced her heavily and was instrumental in her attending Agnes Scott University where she graduated near the top of her class. Linda was an avid reader, lover of literature and poetry, educator, and mother of four children.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Decker Haak, Jr., children: Edward Decker Haak, III and wife, Stormy (Laura); Jessica Haak Overton and husband, Mark; Laura Haak Marcial and husband, Frederick; David Collier Haak and wife, Patricia; grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia, Augustin, Sebastian, Samantha, and Isaac.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Charles Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center (https://donate.splcenter.org/page.aspx?pid=463).
