Guynn, Donald Gene
Donald Gene Guynn, 77, of Narrows, departed this life Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Rich Creek on December 28, 1934, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Annie Ethel Harvey Guynn. Donald was a good and kind man who made life better for all those around him. He was a twelve year veteran of the U.S.Army, worked at the Celanese Celco Plant at Narrows for forty-three years, an avid NASCAR racing fan, and a totally Ford man. A member of a large family, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son Donald Gene Guynn Jr.; his brothers Paul, Carl, Earl, Joe, Dave, and Robert Guynn; and his sisters Blanche Guynn and Ruby Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Mary Jane Croy Guynn; his son Marc Alden Guynn and Sonthaya Foster, of Troutville; his daughter Anne C. Chambers and Barry Chambers, of Narrows; his brothers Frank Marvin Guynn, of Narrows, Myron Delbert Guynn Sr., of Rich Creek, and Merrill Guynn, of Rich Creek; his grandchildren Samantha Foster (Nathaniel Weikle), Sarah Johnson (Ryan), B.J. Chambers (Jessica), Kimberly Tilley (Randy); his great-grandchildren Braylen Johnson, Caleb Tilley, Chandler Tilley, Evelyn and Vivian Chambers. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening, April 14, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to Victory Junction, 1500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27917 (to benefit children’s needs).
