Guthrie, Sadie Altizer

Sadie Altizer Guthrie, 87, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009. She was born on February 10, 1922, to the late Fugate Clark and Lula Altizer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon R. Guthrie (Jack; daughter, Rose Guthrie; grandson, Brandon Guthrie; brothers, Artis, Edgar and Clinton Altizer; and her sisters, Audrey Brown, Reba Booth, and Dorothy Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Guthrie, Brenda Chumbley, Donna and Larry Rush, and Angela and Philip Beasley. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Nick Rush, Crystal Saylors, Lorry Brown, Whitney Eanes, Nathan Rush, Misty Graham, Travis Beasley and Tara Martin. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Don Peters officiating.
