Martha Jane Gunsten, age 96, of Blacksburg, Virginia, died the 18th day of July, 2021. Martha was born in Mullens, WV, on November 8, 1924, to the late William G. and Jane Kinzer Callaway. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles T. Brammer, her second husband, Paul H. Gunsten, stepson Chip Gunsten, and a sister, Lucy Duncan.

She was a longtime member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, the Montgomery County Humane Society, and volunteered at Montgomery Regional Hospital for over 35 years until as recently as 2 years ago.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Sylvia Brammer of Amelia Island, Fl; Daughters Linda Kay Brammer of Port Richey, Fl and Rebecca A. Brammer of Louisville, Ky; Daughter-in-law Kristen Gunsten of Missoula, MT; Step-daughters Pam Gunsten and Claujia Richey of Cherokee Village, AR.

Grandchildren: Chad and Hayley Brammer, Scarlet & Mike Dial, Angela Brammer, Derek & Elisabeth Brammer, Amanda Shirley, Trevor Park, Sarah Krell, Anna Payne, Codi Heieren, Jeffrey Fuller

Great-grandchildren: Will, Cameron and Cooper Brammer, Alexa and Luke Dial, Dylan, Emma and Elisa Brammer, and Kanaan Shirley

Devoted friends: Ray and Norma Decker of Blacksburg

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday evening, July 23, 2021, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Reverend Brad Dulaney, senior pastor of Blacksburg United Methodist Church, and Pastor Gary McCoy of Blacksburg Christian Church, co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County.
