Guilliams, George C.
George C. Guilliams, of Riner, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the age of 89. He impacted countless members of his community through his generous acts and teachings on the grace of God. He was born on February 22, 1922 to the late Thomas C. and Callie Guilliams. He was also preceded in death by his wife of sixty eight years, Mabel C. Guilliams, who passed away last month. He is survived by his son, Steve Guilliams and his wife, Donna; his daughter, Sue Thacker and her husband, Robert; his grandson, Robert Thacker and his wife, Kimberly; his granddaughter, Anna Guilliams; his stepgrandson, John Cromer; and other loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepgreat-grandson, Kirby Cromer, and his step great-grandaughter, Carolina Cromer, the daughter of his late stepgrandson, Chris Cromer. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1942, George Guilliams served in the educational system of Montgomery County Schools for 42 years. He was also a member of Auburn United Methodist Church for over 40 years and actively participated in church life by teaching, preaching, and helping with the needs of the community. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
