Joyce Tope Guarino, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born November 22, 1951, in Conecuh County, Alabama. She lived in Leesburg, Fla. until moving to Christiansburg, Va. in 2002. Mrs. Guarino was a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church, and worked at Wolverine Advance Materials for 28 years.

She is survived by her husband, Al Guarino, Christiansburg, Va.; a son, John (Terri) Tope and granddaughter, Savannah, of Evergreen, Ala.; her mother, Lucille Lynch, of Evergreen, Ala.; two sisters, Ann (Hill) Harper, of Evergreen, Ala., Faye (Bobby) McLelland, Fruitland Park, Fla.; a niece, Jenny (Charles) Larney and daughter, LeighAnn, of Okahumpka, Fla.; four stepdaughters, Dori (Gary) Dunn, of Christiansburg, Donna (Terry) Burford, of Charlotte, N.C., Debi (John) Durnell, of Radford, Va., Dawn (Mike) Pouliot, Chicago, Ill.; several step grandchildren and a host of friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009, in Conecuh County, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
