Albert Guarino, 101 years young, of Warm Hearth, Blacksburg, Va. died Sunday, May 27, 2007.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose and daughter, Josephine. Born in New York City, and lived on Long Island and Florida before moving to Blacksburg in 1994. He became an avid Hokie fan upon arriving here. Al could be seen driving his Hokie golf cart around Warm Hearth.
He is survived by his son, Al and wife, Joyce, of Christiansburg; six grandchildren, Dori Dunn, of Christiansburg, Donna Burford, of Charlotte, Debi Darnell, of Radford, Dawn Pouliot, of Chicago, Ill., Tom Baxter, of Princeton, N.J., and Roseanne Frank, of Long Island, N.Y.; eight great-grandchildren, Amy, Greg, Laura, Eric, Krystal, Teri, Emily, Molly; and one greatgreat-grandchild, Ashleigh.
Al retired from the tea import business and also acting tea taster for the Government developing standards for the importation of tea. Al lived a long and fruitful life.
Burial will be in Holy Rood Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y. later this week. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in memory of his wife Rose. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 3 to 6 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
