Myrtle Lucille Grubb, 81, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on February 23, 1927 to the late William Kegley and Myrtle Umbarger Grubb. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jackson Grubb, Willard Grubb, William Grubb, and Lawrence Grubb; two sisters, Virginia Grubb Toney and Iva Grubb Payton.

She retired from VA Tech with 35 years of services and was a volunteer at Montgomery Regional Hospital for a number of years. Lucille was a long time member of the Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with a great devotion to the church by serving in many different positions and toward other people in giving a helping hand when needed. She touched many lives in many ways Lucille will be greatly missed by all her friends and relatives.

She is survived by her six sisters, Mrs. Nora Price, of Blacksburg, Mrs. Iris Crump, of Blacksburg, Mrs. Allie Underwood, of Blacksburg, Mrs. Glenda Gibbs, of North Carolina, Mrs. Dorothy Cleary, of Texas, and Mrs. Eleanor Hickey, of Connecticut; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses that cared for Lucille.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Blacksburg Christian Church ( Disciple of Christ) with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 240 Watson Ave., Blacksburg, Va., 24060.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
