Kathleen Whitaker Grubb, age 89, of Blacksburg died, Thursday, May 10, 2018, at her home. She was born in Blacksburg, Va. on November 18, 1928 to the late Mark Sr. and Rushia Carleen Doss Whitaker.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Grubb, son-in-law, Adrian Eugene (Gene) Link, brothers, Douglas Whitaker, Robert (Frog) Whitaker, Mark (Dick) Whitaker, Jr., sisters, Louise W. Cook, Dorothy (Dot) W. Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Neel (Barry) and Janet Link, son, Geoffrey Grubb, grandchildren, Lynette K. Neel (Josh Durham), Charlotte, N.C., Lora A. Neel, Apex, N.C., Leah M. Neel, Greenville, N.C., Greg M. Neel (Dana), Richmond, Jennifer R. Link, Blacksburg, Dwayne A. Link (Rachel), Blacksburg, great-grandchildren, Blakely, Edward and William Durham, Kira and Ellie Pritchard, Knox and Anna Catherine Neel, Daniel and Sadie Link, sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Gene Hale, sister-in-law, Shirley Whitaker, brother-in-law, Edward Smith, all of Blacksburg, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family would like to express special thanks to Rachel Link, Diane Toney, Lorraine Baker and Regina Smith a family friend and Carilion Hospice.

Kathleen was a member of Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church and Harvest Baptist Church. She was also a member of Roanoke Valley Home Demonstration Club and a leader of Blacksburg Mountain 4-H Club. She worked at Poly-Scientific for many years.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles Taylor and Rev. Terry Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in the Grubb Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.

Contributions may be given to the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church, 1532 Catawba Road, Blacksburg.
