Griffin, William Nelson
William Nelson Griffin, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in Snowville in the home that he and his wife were very proud of. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Director at the Mobility Technology Center, Ft. Belvoir, VA. Bill was an active member of the Snowville Volunteer Fire Department and was a longtime bowler. Above all Bill was a gentleman and a scholar who was admired and loved by family and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucille Kenny Griffin. Survivors include his loving wife Joy Case Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Betty Griffin and Brian and Angie Griffin, all of Texas; stepson and his wife, Travis and Missie Winch of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Madison, Nolan, Emily, Gabe, Miles, Ellis, Neil and Evie; step grandchildren Tyler and Megan; brother and sister-in-law Gene and Marian Griffin of Texas; and sisters and brothers-in-law Edith Altizer of Indiana, and Charlene and Harold Hill and Barbara and Dennis Lineberry, all of Woodlawn. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Military graveside services will be held Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with Rev. Angela Lineberry officiating.
