Gress, Dorothy Butt

Dorothy Butt (Dot) Gress, 90, of Pulaski, died Monday, January 14, 2013, in the Continuous Care Adult Home in Christiansburg. She was born on February 7, 1922, in Abingdon, and was the daughter of the late Daisy Wilson Butt and Oscar Lee Butt.

Dot was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active with Circle #1 and the United Methodist Women. She was a kind and gracious southern lady, who never met a stranger and was loving and caring to all. She worked for Appalachian Power and the Pulaski County School Board.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Timothy Gress; a daughter, Karen Gress Martin; sisters, Daisy Allen, Helen Butt and Vivian Butt; and a brother, Oscar L. Butt.

She is survived by one son, Timothy (Tim) Gress and his wife, Tamara, of Dublin; one grandson, Eric Paul Gress of Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Seagle Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be any time after 9 a.m. Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. funeral time.
