Gregory, Waylon

Waylon “Don” Gregory, 71, of Elliston went to be with the Lord on July 27th, 2018. He was a proud member of Lafayette United Methodist Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family; whom he adored and loved with his heart and soul. He was also an avid animal lover. He was an automotive service director at Friendly Lincoln Mercury, where he retired.

He is preceded in death by: Mother, Merlie Mitchell; Step-Father, Claude Mitchell; Brother, Everett Gregory; Sister, Edna Gregory; Mother and Father-in-law, Charles and Ione Gloyd.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sharon Gregory; Son, Edward Gregory and wife Kim; Daughter, Missy Gregory Secrist and husband Tim; Grandsons Thomas and Matthew Gregory; Granddaughter, Whitney McCloud and husband Joseph; Great-Grandson, Liam Gregory; Sister Carolyn Bussey; and Fur-Babies, Maggie and Molly. He is also survived by many Brother and Sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Oakey’s North Chapel (Peters Creek Rd.) with Pastors Ben Lockhart and Jeane Dunkum officiating. Interment will follow to Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends, Monday July 30, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers, a monetary donation be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County in his memory.
