Herbert Clayton Greene, age 76, of Draper, died Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 8, 1937, in Fleetwood, NC, and was the son of the late Annie Johnson Greene and Herbert Claude Greene.

Clayton was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #7, a member of the Amvets, and the Moose Lodge, along with being a member of Mission Home Baptist Church in Fleetwood, NC, and was a retired plant superintendent of Long-Airdox in Pulaski.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bland Greene, and James Greene, and a sister, Violet Hartzog. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Miller Greene of Draper, a son, Larry M. Greene and his wife Susan of Warner Robbins, GA, a brother, Kenny Greene and his wife Dorothy of West Jefferson, NC, five sisters, Betty Gentry of Abingdon, Annie Clyde Gentry and her husband Bill of Todd, NC, Mary Hardin and her husband Tommy of West Jefferson, NC, Doris Phillips and her husband Johnny of Jefferson, NC, and Martha Brown and her husband Joe of Todd, NC. Also survived by two grandchildren, Heather James and Ashley Brewer, along with three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Norris, Brooklyn James, and Braden Clayton Brewer, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Mowery and the Rev. Judy Yonce officiating. A military graveside service will be held at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. service time.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Southern Care Hospice, and the staff at Lewis Gale – Pulaski Oncology Center.

Flowers will be appreciated, but for those who wish, they may make memorial contributions in Clayton’s memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
