Peggy Sue Davis Gravley, 73, of Fairlawn, VA, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after eight weeks in intensive care. She was born on April 6, 1945, in Oakvale, WVa, as the fifth of six children to Cecil Wilburn Davis and Etha Marie Smith Davis Janey.

She was predeceased by her mother and father; her only child, Lisa Dawn Gravley Brown; a niece, Mitzi Davis, a nephew, Steve King, and three brothers-in-law, Grover Gravley, Garvin Gravley, and Edward Gravley.

Left to cherish her memory are Edrel (Ed) Gravley, her husband of 53 years; her grandson, Noah Harmon Brown; and her son-in-law, Paul Joseph Brown. She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters – Lacy Wilburn Davis, Spokane, WA; Joe Davis (Teresa), Dublin, VA; Pat King (Bill), Dublin, VA; Ron Davis (Lois), Claytor Lake, VA; and Darla Donald (Wayne), Blacksburg, VA. Many of her nieces and nephews considered her a second mother – Joe (Aimee) Davis, Jr.; Ben Davis; Mike (Leslie) King; Beth King; Ronald (Lauren) Davis, Jr.; Chris (Rebecca) Donald; Megan (Byron) Hughes.

Peggy retired from SunTrust Bank with 45 years of service, where her clients received her steadfast attention and special care. She was a beautiful person with a kind heart, who was always ready to help anyone who needed her. She was a strong presence in the life of her grandson, who lived with Peggy and Ed for more than 10 years. She was loved and admired by her family and friends and will be missed intensely and deeply by all.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 6:00 PM – Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Bower Funeral Home-Chapel, Pulaski, VA with The Rev. Christopher Donald & Pastor Darlene Marshall officiating. Visitation will be from one hour before service time Friday at the funeral home.

Ashes will be interred in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA.
