Graham, Malvine Paxton
Malvine Paxton Graham, 96, widow of Marvin Giles Graham, passed from this life on August 13, 2016, in Crozet, Virginia. Mrs. Graham was the daughter of William McCormick Paxton and Malvine Womble Paxton. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on September 6, 1919.
Mrs. Graham graduated from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton. She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, Pulaski, and an active participant in numerous local clubs and organizations in Pulaski. She was well known for her sharp wit, warm sense of humor, caring nature, loving friendship, volunteer work and commitment to others.
Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Giles Graham; and two grandsons, Stewart Robinson Graham Johnston and Andrew Paxton Graham Johnston.
Mrs. Graham is survived by her four children, her daughter, Martha Stewart Graham Orton and her husband, Robert, of Charlottesville; son, William Paxton Graham and his wife, Becky, of Charlottesville, son, James Gray Graham and his wife Cely, of Whiteville, N.C.; and daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) McCormick Graham and her partner, Lisa Miller, of Oak Ridge, N.C. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Paxton Beale, of Virginia Beach; and grandchildren, Meredith Graham Kennedy and her husband, Gavan, Laura Lee Graham and her partner, Kurt Haselman, Arthur Orton and his wife, Stephanie, Jason and Stewart Graham, Jodie Ellen Finney; and nieces, Martha Custis Eppes and Margaret Beale; and nephew, James Beale.
The family extends their deep appreciation and gratitude to the dedicated and caring staff of the Lodge at Old Trail and Hospice of the Piedmont, and also particularly to Angela McDaniel, Carol Toms, and Jenny Dameron for their love and care over the years.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski. The visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and family will receive friends until the service hour. The funeral service will be held at2 p.m. with Dr. John White officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem.
