Harding Graham, 97, of Radford, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was retired from Burlington Industries with over forty-five years of service. Born and raised in the Alum Ridge area of Floyd County, Va. he served in the United States Army during World War II in New Guiana, the Philippines, and Guadalcanal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, serving many years as chaplain for Radford’s Post 776.

He married his wife of seventy years, Lucille Roop Graham, in 1948 and purchased their life-long home in Radford. He loved fishing, gardening, playing Santa Claus, building log bird houses, and making “peach tree baskets”. After retirement, using trees he had cut and handcrafted, he built his own log cabin. He served many years as a deacon for the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In addition to his wife, Lucille, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Lois Graham; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Peter Hart of Frostburg, Md.; step-son and friend, Donna of Pulaski, Va.; grandsons, Gavin Hart and Rickey Dickens; and his granddaughter, Kelsey Hart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patton and Maggie Graham and nine siblings, sisters, Mary Switzer, Iva Hodges, Mae Conner, Edith McBride, Vera Eaves, Atha Smith, Evangeline Wickline, Lakie Williams; and brother, Hanson Graham.

The family wishes to thank all those from the VA, Intrepid, Human Touch, and the many friends for their help during this difficult period. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Don Elswick officiating. Interment with full military rites will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford is in charge of arrangements.
