Gordon, Sr., Charles Bernard

Charles Bernard Gordon, Sr., 80, of Pearisburg, VA (formerly of the community of Trigg), went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October, 22, 2019. Charles was born on June 23, 1939 in Giles County, VA (Guinea Mtn.) and was a son of the late Charles Chester Gordon and Laura Estelle Anderson Norman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carroll Clark Gordon.

Charles was a 1956 graduate of Eggleston High School, a member of Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Trigg and retired as a general supervisor of signals of Norfolk Southern, Lake Division. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking his family camping and the company of family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Blanche Stafford Gordon of Pearisburg, two sons, L. Dean Vaught (Diane) of Waverly, OH, Charles Bernard Gordon, Jr. (Jeanne) of Indialantic, FL, two daughters, Debra G. Cruz (Richard) of Bellevue, OH, Regina F. Gordon of Pearisburg, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Frances Stanley of Dublin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted, Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Gary Poff officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 – 8 pm.
