Goodykoontz, John Alfred

John Alfred Goodykoontz, 62, of Radford, died on November 16, 2012. He was with his family when he died very peacefully. John was born in Radford on June 30, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles and Hazel Goodykoontz.

Survivors include his sisters, Ann McFarland and Henry Aitchison and Mary Goodykoontz and Tim Evans; his brother, Joe and Susan Goodykoontz; niece, Erin and Tobin Rodriguez; nephew, Lucas Goodykoontz and Angela Barlow; two great nephews, Elliott and Marsden Rodriguez; two great nieces, Lily and Layla Goodykoontz; many friends; and his cat, Happy.

Visitation will be Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, with a short service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Radford Humane Society, P.O. Box 581, Radford, VA 24143.

John made many friends in his life, and they were all very dear to him. His laughter was a delight to all that knew him. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He will be sorely missed.
