Willie Ray Goad, 82, of Willis, died Monday, May 19, 2008. He was born in Radford, Va., on November 16, 1925, to the late Garver and Rosetta Goad.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorcas Helen Goad; two brothers, C.B. Goad and Jimmy Goad; and three sisters, Ida Lee Turman, Darlene Goad and Rose Ellen Goad. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lacie Helen Goad; sons, W.L. Goad, of Check, Va., Glen Goad and his wife, Nancy, of Elliston, Va., Larry Goad and his wife, Alisa, of Shelby, N.C., David Goad and his wife, Linda, of Blacksburg, Va., Curtis Goad and his wife, Debbie, of Alum Ridge, Va.; daughters, Lanor Ward and her husband, Mark, of Max Meadows, Va., Rosetta Jeffries and her husband, Brad, of Bassett, Va., and Rebecca Goad, of Roanoke, Va.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Heath Goad; and three sisters, Doris Turman, Betty Conner and Ann Goad.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation to Skyline Manor Nursing Home of Floyd and Carilion Hospice Services of the New River Valley. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd. There will be a private interment on Thursday, May 22, 2008.
