Rev. Eugene Glisson, 86, of Springfield, Tennessee, a World War II veteran, passed away Wednesday March 26, 2014. He was a recipient of The Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. His greatest achievement was taking Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. You could always count on him carrying his Scofield Bible and preaching the word. Eugene pastored and mentored, while preaching for most of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Maxine Glisson; a son, Alan Eugene Glisson; granddaughter, Chasity Sunshine Lee Glisson; sister and brother-in-law, IoLa and Frank Raab.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Steven and Shirley Glisson, Dr. Marty and Amy Glisson, Rev. Daron Glisson, Chris and Sara Glisson; grandchildren, Brian, Erin, Joshua, Rebeccah, Chelsea, and Savana; great-grandchildren, Summer and Ethan; several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his niece, Pam Frith, for all of her loving care and devotion. The Glisson family would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and the staff at Golden Living in Springfield, Tenn.

The family will receive friends Saturday March 29, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday March 30, 2014 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Ralph Keen will be officiating. Interment will follow at Belmont Cemetery in Christiansburg.

Pallbearers will be Brian Glisson, Joshua Glisson, Wayne Akers, Mark Frith, Scott Lander, and Michael Blue.

DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, VA is in charge of arrangements.
