Glaser, Bendon

Bendon Glaser, 65, of Floyd, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008. He was a beloved brother of Bethel Glaser Reinhard and a good friend of Ray Hatcher of Floyd, Va.

He was born in New Orleans, La., on November 18, 1942. He resided in Arabi, La., until he lost his home from hurricane Katrina. He later moved, and recently became a resident of Floyd, Va. Bendon served in the United States Navy. He was a police officer for the New Orleans Police Department, and retired from Boh Brothers Construction Company. For several years he created and designed Mardi Gras headpieces for the St. Bernard carnival crews. He was an avid collector, and loved 60’s music, especially that of Fats Domino. He was the son of the late Fielding J. Glaser and Majorie Stiles.

He is survived by his son, Bendon Glaser Jr., Arabi, La.; his daughter, Bridgett Glaser Campo, Covington, La.; grandson, Milton R. Smith Jr., St. Bernard, La.; granddaughter, Anjelle Glaser Edward, Hardin, Texas; great-grandson, Brice Edward, Hardin, Texas; special nieces and nephews of Floyd, Va., Kimberly Kosinski, Laura and Chris Sparks, Eric J. Reinhard and John E. Reinhard Jr.; grandnieces and grand-nephews; cousin, Betty Jane Trosclair, Arabi, La.; and his very special friend, Marie Bell, Bogalusa, La.

The family extends a special thanks to the Renal Unit at the V.A. Hospital of Salem, Va., the Intensive Care Unit of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Dr. James Callis, the employees of Ray’s Restaurant, Floyd, Va., and Dr. Gary Collins, of Floyd, Va.

Bendon wished to be cremated. A delayed memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd, Va.
