“Mom” made her final appearance, had her last migraine, Praise the Lord, and made her debut pain free walking through the gates of heaven into the Lords arms and joining her heavenly family on July 1, 2022, with her family by her side, at the age of 75. One day shy of her 76th birthday. I can only imagine how she must feel……

Judy Anne Lucas made her grand entrance into this world on July 2, 1946. Awaiting her arrival, her parents William Coburn and Lorene Reese Lucas and her sister Joyce Darlene Lucas. Judy grew up in a loving home in Pembroke VA, graduated from Giles High School in 1964.

After patiently waiting to turn 18, three days later she became the wife of Albert Gillispie in a beautiful wedding ceremony held at Pembroke Christian Church on July 5, 1964, where they would begin their life long journey on Castle Rock Drive in Pembroke. During their 57 years 361 days (Almost 58) of marriage Judy became a wonderful, caring, loving mother to Milicent Anne; a “nannie” to her grandson Lucas; and a “nana” to her great granddaughter, Vayda, who she enjoyed spending her first birthday with. Her family meant the world to her and she to them.

Judy enjoyed family vacations to the beach, playing bingo, card night with Alberts brothers, sisters and their families, planting and watching her flowers bloom, her outdoor pond with beautiful flowers, watching Lucas play ball and grow into a wonderful man, husband and father, every visit from Vayda, shopping, jewelry, clothes, earrings to match every outfit and of course shoes, anything sweet, making coconut cake and custard at Christmas or just simply sitting on the porch with Albert. Judy started her working career at National Gypsum Lime plant then became a homemaker and mother and later ventured out working part time for Pembroke Cable until it closed then later retiring from The Town of Pembroke.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents: W. Coburn and Lorene R Lucas, sister: Joyce L DiRico, Son in law: Travis Dye, Brother in laws: Bill DiRico, William Gillispie, Gary Gillispie, Raymond Hale, Joseph “Bugs” Martin and Gene Long, Sister in laws: Louise G Hale, Dorothy “Dot” G Martin Long, Nephews: Christopher DiRico and David Gillispie.
