Gillespie, Herbert Phillip
Herbert Phillip Gillespie (62), of Christiansburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2020. Phil was born on June 27, 1958 to Bonnie Sheppard Gillespie and the Late Herbert Preston Gillespie. He married his first and only love Vicky Bugg Gillespie on January 2, 1979.
He worked at Hubble Lighting for 18 years before becoming a truck driver for MS Carries, Great Coastal and the Town of Christiansburg. Phil’s passion was hunting, fishing, camping and riding in his Jeep through mountain with his faithful hunting dogs. Phil shared his love of hunting and fishing with so many friends, family and strangers.
Phil will be remembered for is contagious laugh, and his bravery to live life to its fullest.
Phil is preceded in death by Father, Herbert Preston Gillespie.
Phil is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicky Bugg Gillespie, daughter, Laura Beth Gillespie Howell & Frankie, brother, Darryl Gillespie & Jamie, brother Brent Gillespie and sister Laura Helms & Jeff, mother Bonnie Sheppard Gillespie, Grandchildren: Victoria Chadwick & Jeremy, and Elizabeth Ratcliff & Elijah Duncan, many special nieces, nephews, special cousins and dear close friends.
The funeral will be held at Belview United Methodist church on Saturday November 21st at 2:30 pm, doors will open 1:30 pm to receive friends and family. Graveside services to follow at the Stanger/Sheppard cemetery. Facemask and social distancing will be required.
Rev. Buddy Pierce will be officiating. Arrangements made by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.

So sorry to hear this. Haven’t seen him in years gone by but was a really great guy.praying for comfort for his wife and darrel and all the family he was a really great guy growing up with him and the family.he will be missed by all that knew him. Tommy miller 114 res

I’m so Sorry to hear about Phil. I haven’t seen Phil in many years, but I remember all the fun times we all had together. I worked with Phil for 15 years at Hubble, went on trips, fishing , cookouts and four wheeling in that jeep. I’m sure he will be missed by Vicky and his family.
