Worshipful William Edmundson Gill Jr., 73, of Decatur, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011. He was born on December 20, 1937, in Christiansburg, Va., to the late William E. Gill Sr. and Pauline Keith Gill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hodges Gill. He graduated from Christiansburg High School and served his country in the United States Army. He attended VPI and VCU and was a self-employed accountant. He was especially proud of being a Mason. Brother Bill was initiated an Entered Apprentice on May 11, 1959, passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft on October 5, 1959, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on October 19, 1959. He was a 50 year Mason and Past Master of Northside Lodge No: 292 in Richmond, Va., a member of Virginia Research Lodge No: 1777 and was a charter member of Civil War Research Lodge No: 1865 in Highland Springs, Va. He was a member of Washington Royal Arch Chapter No: 9 and Richmond Commandery No: 2 in Richmond, Va. He is survived by his children, Mary Rachel Gill and husband, Jeremy B. Zamora, of Atlanta, Ga., and William E. Gill III, of Chicago, Ill.; grandson, London Macallan Zamora, of Georgia; sister, Kathryn G. Nester, of Arizona; niece, Elizabeth M. Boose, of New Jersey; and cousins, James M. Gill, of Connecticut, and Samuel H. Gill, of Virginia. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, VA 23223-4999. A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, from the graveside of Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va., officiated by Dr. Don Makin officiating and Masonic Rites performed by McDaniels Lodge No: 86.
