Marie Millirons Wirt Gilbert, 87, of Morehead Lane, Pulaski passed away early Saturday morning, December 1, 2007 at the Beulah House Hospice, Pulaski.

She was born October 21, 1920 in Little Creek Community, Bland County, and was the daughter of the late Edgar H. and Cecil Davis Millirons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, L. Edward Gilbert and Ralph T. Wirt, Sr.

Marie was a lifelong member and Sunday School teacher for over 45 years at Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Pulaski. She was a member of the New River Historical Society, Newbern, and a member of the Extension Homemaker’s Club.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph T. and Martha Wirt, Neal H. and Lois Wirt, both of Pulaski; one daughter, Linda Marie Gilbert Young of Kannapolis, N.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Lloyd Mathews of Pulaski; one brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Doris Millirons of Reisterstown, Md.; five grandchildren and spouses, Paul and Connie Wirt of Fayetteville, N.C., Teresa and Stimis Smith of Salem, Va., Alicia Akers Newby of Kannapolis, N.C., Laura A. and Tim Moose, of Kannapolis, N.C., and Hampton Wirt of Galax; five step granddaughters and spouses, Melba Boyd of Collinsville, Debbie and Cameron Jones of Dublin, Crystal and Kevin Wiltsee of Austin, Texas, Glynda and Gus Lorton of Georgetown, Ky. and Sherry and Greg Quesenberry, of Dublin; fifteen great-grandchildren and two nieces, Carolyn Mathews of Newbern and Joanne Flanagan, of Bridgewater, Mass; and three nephews, John, Scott and Chris Millirons, all in the Baltimore, Md. area.

Memorial services will be held Monday December 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons, with the Rev. John Grimm, Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church Pastor, officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Beulah House, Inc., 4704 Caddell Lane, Dublin, VA 24084 or to the Building Fund for Jordan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1946 Medallion Drive, Pulaski, VA 24301.
