Gilbert, Carl (Shorty)

Carl “Shorty” Gilbert, 86, of Dublin, Va., passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015. He was born April 14, 1929, in Wilder, Va., to the late Elbert B. Gilbert and Rebecca J. Stanley Gilbert.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betty L. Gilbert, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, with Rev. Gary Stike officiating.
