Charles Gathercole Jr., 79, of Newport, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Gathercole; two sons and wives, Charles D. and Rosemary Gathercole, and Donald Ray and Pamela Gathercole; four daughters and husbands, Donna and Steve Downer, Linda and Roger Gillispie, Janice and Gene Dove, and Kathy and Jerry Surface; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dewey Weaver Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Maberry Funeral Home.
