Garrison, Donald Bruce
Donald Bruce Garrison, age 82, of Blacksburg, Virginia, peacefully joined the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2022. Bruce was born in Richmond, Virginia and placed into Foster Care Services. He was fostered just days after his birth by George and Myrtle Garrison and was officially adopted into their loving Christian home with two older sisters, Marian Garrison and Audrey Moss Nichols (all of whom preceded him in death).
Bruce graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Medical College of Virginia in 1962 and met the love of his life, Linda McNeer of Bluefield, Virginia, while working as a pharmacist in Virginia Beach that summer. They married in 1963, had two children, and moved to Bluefield where Bruce enjoyed a wonderful life with his family and friends, playing tennis, and working as a pharmacist and co-owner at New Graham Pharmacy for over 30 memorable years. During his time in Bluefield, Bruce was very active in the community and received awards such as “Best Pharmacist” and “Businessman of the Year”. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Bluefield VA Rescue Squad, President of the Bluefield Virginia Business and Professional Association, and a member of the Board of Directors at the Bank of Tazewell County. In 2005 he retired and moved to Blacksburg where he and Linda could cheer on the Hokies locally. Bruce was a deacon and an elder at Graham Presbyterian Church in Bluefield and an active member at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, where he cherished his time with “The Boys”, his beloved men’s group.
He will be dearly missed and is survived by his wife, Linda McNeer Garrison; children, David Garrison and Susan Garrison Scheper; son-in-law, J. Scott Scheper; grandchildren, J. Luke Scheper and Claire Scheper; sister-in-law, Marcia Elizabeth McNeer and Stuart McNeer Black.

To the family of Bruce Garrison—It was my privilege to know Bruce through our mutual golf acquaintances in Blacksburg. It was always a joy to be in his foursome because of his wit and demeanor as a gentleman. Bruce also introduced me to his good friend Frank Hart who in turn has become my good friend and golf companion. I will always remember the generosity with which Bruce shared that friendship. May the soul of Bruce Rest in Peace and may you find Peace in your grief. —respectfully, David Ford

Bruce will be greatly missed by all who new him. He was very wise and humble. It was definitely a privilege to have him as a friend and Christian soulmate.

Bruce and I were friends through golf. Bruce introduced me to a technical golf term that was new to me. More than once when I had shanked a ball or sliced it into the rough, Bruce would say “your ‘toward’ is off” or “you need to work on your ‘toward,'” as in ‘toward the hole.’
I spent many pleasant hours with Bruce and have missed him since he ceased playing golf.
