Glenn William Garrett, 68, of Christiansburg, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, June 3, 2011. Glenn served his community in law enforcement for 34 years. The last 19 years of his career was spent with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office, retiring in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burrell Garrett; mother, Evelyn Boaz; and “granddaughter” Misty Dellinger.

He is survived by the love of his life for the last 47 years, Shelby Chumbley Garrett; daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Robert Marshall of Christiansburg; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Sue Garrett of Lynchburg; granddaughter, Brianne Nicole Marshall of Christiansburg; “adopted son” William “Billy” Moran of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, C. T. “Ted” Garrett of Salem and Ernest Garrett of Roanoke; sisters, Frances Vernon of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Agnes Lawson of Stuarts Draft, Sharon Caccavo of Turnerville, N.J., and Brenda Bowman of Vinton; numerous nieces, nephews, and his three special boys, Midnite, Chuckie, and Tuffstuff.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Neil Turner and Pastor Michael Lawson. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Simpson Funeral Home, 366-0707.
