Catharine Elizabeth Gannaway, 96, of Draper, Va., died on Friday night, November 23, 2007 in the Pulaski Community Hospital.

She was born in Draper, Va. on September 3, 1911 and was the daughter of the late John L. Gannaway and Eva Allison Gannaway. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas A. Gannaway; two sisters, Mary Trigg Gilmer and Ruth G. Bryson; and by a nephew, Timothy L. Gannaway.

She was a life-long member of the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church and she graduated with a B.S. degree in education in 1933 from the State Teacher’s College in Farmville, Va. She was a farmer, school teacher and was a home economist with Appalachian Power Company.

Surviving are nieces and spouses, Cynthia G. McKeever of Falls Church, Va., Kathie and Mike VanRonzelen of Salem, Ore. and Jodie and Tom McClain of Lake Oswego, Ore.; nephews and spouses, Thomas and Judy Gannaway of Vinton, Ohio, Graham and Helen Gilmer of Lynchburg, Va. and Tom and Judy Gilmer of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Mary P. Gannaway of Draper, Va.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Preston O. Sartelle, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Following the committal service, there will be a reception for friends and family in the fellowship hall of the church.

Visiting will be Tuesday evening, November 27, 2007 from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family wishes that memorials may be made to the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church, Old Baltimore Road, Draper, Va. 24324.
