Gallimore, Gerald Gene

Gerald Gene Gallimore, formerly of Blacksburg and Emporia, Virginia, died March 5, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. Gerald (Jerry) was born February 23, 1940, in Radford, Virginia, the son of Clinton Festus and Ora Smith Gallimore.

He was a 1958 graduate of Blacksburg High School and received a BS degree from Virginia Tech and a MS degree from Virginia State University. He lived over 40 years in Southeast Virginia where he retired from the Virginia Tech Agricultural Extension Service in 1991. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Brammer Gallimore; sons, Greg and wife, Lorena of Dallas Texas; Matt and wife, Sarah of York, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Gerry and Jason; granddaughters: Gaby, Amber and Crystal; one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Gallimore and sister, Janet Bryant.

Memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Russell Shepherd at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg, Virginia followed by family visitation. Memorial gifts may be made to a church or charity of choice.
