Gallimore, Early

Early Gallimore, 82, of Blacksburg, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was born in Indian Valley, Floyd County, on June 5, 1925, to the late Henry Lee and Lucy Huff Gallimore. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mentha Duncan, Alberta Akers and Iowa Gallimore; three brothers, Fuston Gallimore, Arthur Gallimore and Stanley Gallimore; two half sisters; and four half brothers.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He retired from Virginia Tech. Early was a long time and faithful member of the Belmont Christian Church where he was an Elder Emeritus.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edith B. Gallimore, of Blacksburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Lynne Gallimore, of Wilson, N.C., and Roger and Bernie Gallimore, of Batavia, Ohio; brother-in-law, Raymond Akers; sister-in-law, Ethel Gallimore; five grandchildren, Hunter Gallimore and wife, Angelia, Britney Zaytoun and husband, George, Joel Gallimore and wife, Shannon, Dana Bishop and husband, Nathan, and Nathaniel Gallimore; nine greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Monday, March 24, 2008, in the Belmont Christian Church with Mr. James Bayne and Mr. Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vision Fund at Belmont Christian Church, 2149 Dominion Drive, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, March 23, 2008, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg, Va.
