Cornelia Sylvia Smith Gallimore, of Christiansburg, Va., was born March 15, 1919, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, joined her Heavenly Father and Loving Husband, Les, on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.

She was a member of the Shawsville Congregational Holiness Church. She and Les attended and supported many other churches, serving God together. Her Mothers’ Love surpassed just a mother’s love. She reached out to anyone who needed a home, food and family. She and Les took several boys into their home, loving them and raising them as their own. She was a Mother and grandma to many. She enjoyed cooking for the employees, sales persons, cats and dogs at Wills Ridge Supply. She loved God and said many times, “I want people who pray for me to believe when they pray.” Proverbs 31:28 says it so well. “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”

She is survived by her four sons, Chester and Carol, Donald and Ara, Dale and Dee, and Mac and Lilly. She is also survived by one loving and dedicated sister, Elaine and husband, Bill Dobyns; sisters-in-law, Dovie Quesenberry, Irene Gallimore, and Isabelle and husband, Lewis Shelor; brothers-in-law, Charles and Oneta Gallimore, and Roger and Irma Jean Gallimore; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Essie Turman and Vivian Nolen; and four brothers, Edgar, Harry, Ralph and Melvin Smith.
