Gallemore, Margaret Rhudy

Margaret Rhudy Gallemore, 89, of Bluefield, Va., passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at Glenwood Retirement Village at Glenwood Park.She was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Christiansburg, Va., and was a daughter of the late Harvey E. and Clara D. Rhudy.

Maggie, as she was affectionately known, grew up in Christiansburg, Va., and lived as a youngster in Grey Eagle, W.Va.She attended Radford State Teachers College where she received her degree, and practiced as a teacher for a short period. Maggie was a member of the Fincastle Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, Va., where she was active in choir and Sunday School and also served as treasurer, secretary and historian. One of her lifelong projects was continuing the research of her family history. She delighted in sharing her scrapbooks and pictures to all family, accompanied by a story. She has an incredible memory and a knack for detail and a sharp wit and tremendous sense of humor. She also had been a good community worker and Mission worker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Gallemore; brothers, John H. Rhudy and Harry C. Hammitt and a sister Francis Starnes.She is survived by two nephews, Bob Rhudy of Union Hall, Va., ad Barry Rhudy of Charlotte, N.C.; nieces, Billie Jo Willis of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Francis “Kathy” Starnes of Alpharetta, Ga.; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Cathy Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin Va.The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until hour of services at the funeral home.Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va., is serving the Margaret Rhudy Gallemore family.
