Elsie Dove Fugate, 86, of Eggleston, was called home to heaven, Saturday morning, August 30, 2014, at her home. She was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Ada Reed Dove; husband, George Fugate; sisters, Essie Compton and Ruby Early; brothers, Leonard, Roy, and Willard Dove.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Elizabeth Fugate of Tenn. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Floyd Robinson, and sister Jane Robinson all of Blacksburg; sister-in-law, Wanda Dove-Hopkins of Christiansburg; caregiver nieces and spouses Agness and John Chandler, Nina and Lowell Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Special appreciation and tremendous gratitude are expressed to Terry and Barbara Sarver, devoted neighbors and precious friends, who have given so much patient, compassionate love, care and friendship.

The family also expressed appreciation to Elsie’s community, especially Lisa Stafford who made it possible to fulfill her wish to be at home for her final hours.

Special thanks to Dr. Christine Jordan and staff, Leon (of Blue Ridge Medical Transport:, Lewis-Gale Hospital Montgomery and Heritage Hall Rehab personnel for their dedicated care).

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 1, at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dwayne Martin and the Rev. Nathan Walter officiating. Burial will follow in the Alls Family Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In recognition of her dedication to maintaining the cemetery, memorials honoring her memory may be made to Alls Cemetery Fund 3797 Mt. Tabor Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
