French, Kathryn Weikle

Barbara Kathryn Weikle French (Kathy), 67, of Christiansburg, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Kyle T. and Alice Waldron Weikle. She is survived by her son, Daniel Christopher French; daughter, Marissa French Stanley and husband Chris; grandchildren, Cullen, Zane, and Ava Stanley; great-grandchild, Mya Stanley; sister, Karen Weikle Sinclair; niece, Lyndsey Sinclair; nephew Brian Sinclair; and many other extended family and friends.

Kathy had the most genuine soul. She was such a thoughtful, selfless person who put others always before herself. She graduated from Narrows High School in 1969 and worked at Virginia Tech Police until her retirement. She helped organize and raise money for Virginia Special Olympics and was thankful for that opportunity. She continued to donate to them after her retirement; the organization meant so much to her.

The family would like to thank her amazing church family at Belmont Christian Church and her friends for all their cards, calls, messages, and prayers during our time of need. Kathy truly loved her family, friends, and her church. We would also like to thank Carilion Hospice, with a special thank you to her nurse Nicole, for their excellent care of Kathy.

A Celebration of Kathy’s Life will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Belmont Christian Church, with Pastor Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Kathy’s name to the Carilion Hospice.
