Freeman, Mary K.

Mary K. Freeman of Blacksburg, passed from this world to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2013 in the presence of family to join her beloved husband Fred, parents Thomas and Mary Anne and brother Patrick. She was 78. She worked as a secretary for CBS Radio in New York City in the 1950’s, married and raised a family and co-owned a successful business in Blacksburg for many years. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and lent a sympathetic ear to family and friends with uncommon wisdom and humor. She endured the hardships of this life with faith in a loving Creator, often advising to “remember God is on your side.” She is survived by her son, Robert; daughter Jeanne; son-in-law, James; grandsons, William and Daniel; and siblings Margaret, Thomas and Dorothy. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, 111 Church St., Blacksburg VA.
