Freeman, Frances Jones

amem_hydrangea.jpgBlessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. On Sunday evening, August 8, 2010, The Lord called one of His servants home. Frances Virginia Freeman, 84, of Eggleston, Va., was born on May 7, 1924, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nicholas and Lilly Merriman Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; and her beloved husband, Alfred Freeman. Also preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Daniel (Gladys) Jones, Nathaniel (Gladys) Jones, James Jones, Aaron (Rheemler) Jones, Mable (Mark) Saunders, Katherine (Garfield) Farrow, and Rosie (Willie) Eanes; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Freeman, Nora Kelly (Jr), Alberta (Peach) Ferguson, and Letha Freeman; and brother-in-law, Bill Freeman.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter who she lovingly called, Precious, Michelle Freeman, of the home. Mom loved her hats. Not only was she a loving and devoted Mom to Michelle, but she was “Aunt Frances” to a host of nieces and nephews of which she was a fourth generation to some. Her nieces and nephews include a very special nephew, Andrew (Ester) Farrow, of Cleveland, Ohio, whom she loved like a son and daughter; Lucille Dilland and family, of Cleveland, Ohio; Shelia Bladyes and family, of Cleveland, Ohio; Tamar Bell and family, of Knoxville, Tenn.; Carolyn Harvey, of Fredericksburg, Va.; a special god son, McKinley Harvey III, of New York, N.Y.; Nathan Jones Jr. (Money) and family, of King George, Va.; Bishop Aaron Jones (Sharon), of Maryland; Regina (Ed) Parks and family, of Maryland; a special “daughter,” Brenda Mitchell, of Pembroke; Ramona (Thomas) Peoples and family, who have been a special blessing these last few months, plus a host of others too numerous to mention; sister-in-law, Mrs. Delores (Dee) Freeman, of Roanoke; brother-in-law, Mr. David (Tack) Freeman and family, of Pembroke; and a devoted and loving brother-in-law, Lonnie Freeman, of Pearisburg, who has been an ever present help during this journey (God bless you always).

Mom was a life-long member of the Goodwill Church of God in Christ in Eggleston, serving in several capacities in the church. She loved her Lord and instilled that same love in her daughter, Michelle, from an early age. Michelle would like to express her sincere thanks to family, friends, Goodwill Family, neighbors, Montgomery Regional Hospital family, and special thanks to Dr. Jon Michael Payne and the staff of Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia for their care and concern down through the years.

The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, on Friday evening, August 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial will be delivered during the visitation by her nephew, Bishop Aaron Jones. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010, in the Kendall Funeral Home with Elder Dr. Clinton D. Scott, Officiant and Eugulogist. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
