Frederick, Karen Noreen

Karen Noreen Frederick, 71, of Blacksburg, was called home to be with the Lord and reunited with her son, Robert (Bobby) Frederick in Glory, on Sunday, October 16, 2011. Karen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 23, 1940. After 20 years of service Karen retired from the Montgomery- Floyd Regional Library and continued to serve on the Library Board since 2004. She faithfully attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Karen was the youngest of three children born to Grayce and Robert O’Grady. Karen was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Grayce O’Grady; son, Robert Dennis Frederick; and sister, Betty Walker. Karen is survived by brothers, Fr. Dennis O’Grady, and James O’Grady; sister-in-law, Barbara O’Grady; sister, Kathy Sabo; sons, Richard (Rick) Frederick and James (Jim) Frederick; daughters-in-law, Sherry Frederick and Dawn Frederick; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Robert, James, Richard, Brandi, Jenna and Jason; two great- grandchildren, Ryan and Johnathan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg, at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
