Frazier, Betty Jewell Wheeler
Betty Jewell Wheeler Frazier, 64, of Radford, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013. She was born March 4, 1949, to the late Stuart and Athlyn Wheeler. She graduated from Radford High School. Through the years she had written a column for the Southwest Times, and worked in the records department at Carilion. Betty had been a facilitator in the T.O.P.S. program and traveled extensively in that program, and like her mother, she also loved sewing. For years, Betty and her mother had been active in the Pentecostal Holiness Church in the women’s ministry and other hospitality ministries of the church. For the past several months, Betty had the use of a Kindle Fire that allowed hundreds of hours of not only games, but the ability to read numerous books. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Micheal Frazier. Survivors include her stepdaughter, Heather Frazier; brother, Dwight Wheeler (Kathy), of Dublin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty had numerous friends, including care giver Christy Hovencamp and Becca Collins, of Radford, and in her later years and in ill health, Betty had a pet cat named “Dokie” that had given her comfort, especially after the passing of her husband, Micheal. The family wishes to acknowledge the special care provided by New River Valley Carillion Hospital and in “in house” Hospice Care Unit. The love and support provided were of tremendous value through this time. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Elder Eric Desarme and the Rev. Ted Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service. The Frazier family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. www.mullinsfuneralhome.com.
