Frank, Ronald Wayne

Ronald Wayne “Ron” Frank, age 75, of Newport died, Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at his home. He was born in Prince Edward County, VA on November 25, 1938 to the late George Henry, Jr. and Odell Jones Frank. He played football for Va Tech 1959-1963 and was a member of the Monogram Club. He was inducted into the Old Guard last year. Ron was an agent for John Hancock financial for many years. He was a member of the Newport Masonic Lodge, the Virginia Horse Council, the Oldtimers Sportsman Club, and the Newport-Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. His hobbies were old cars, playing pickle ball, reading and cards. He and his wife have been full time RV traveling to all 50 states. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Frank of Newport; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Frank and wife Christin of Thomasville, NC; two sisters-in-law; grandson, Carson Frank. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the Newport Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with the Rev. Morris Fleischer officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Newport Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church or the Va Tech Football and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, c/o Dave Gittings, 510 Stadium Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Saturday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
