Francis, Patricia Tickle

Patricia Ann Francis, 70, of Pearisburg VA, departed this life for her heavenly home, Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Born in Pearisburg on January 28, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Jackson J and Blanche Crabtree Tickle.

She was a graduate of Giles High School and was trained as a legal secretary serving in the law offices of J L Dillow, Jeff Stafford, and Charles Andrews. For many years she also served as Deputy Clerk for the Giles County Circuit Court. She was raised in the spiritual nurture of the First Church of God in Pearisburg but now expressed her faith as a member of the fellowship of Christians at First Baptist Church in Narrows. “Patty” also faithfully served in The Ladies Auxiliary of the Giles County Life Saving and Rescue Squad, serving up hundreds of hot dogs to help the cause.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of fifty years Thomas L Francis (“The Love of My Life”); her brother and sister-in-law Daniel J and Cathy Tickle of Peterstown; her “grandchildren” David and Jennifer Taylor and children, Tori and Jon Bowman and children, Amber Tickle and daughter, and Daniel J Tickle II; her sisters-in-law and their husbands Betty and Oliver Porterfield of Bozoo, Jerry and Virginia Smith of Peterstown, and Sandra Keatley of Newport News; and several more beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church in Narrows with Pastors Jerry Sawyers and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in Patty’s honor to the Giles County Animal Shelter. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
