Melaine Brewster Fraley, 79 of Troutville, lovingly known as “Nannie,” peacefully departed this life on Thursday, December 15th, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Logan, West Virginia on September 26th, 1937 and was the daughter of the late Dow and Sallie Curry Brewster. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Glenn, and Paul Brewster.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Melaine’s faith and family were foremost in her life. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and was an avid Duke Blue Devils basketball fan.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 63 years, Charles L. Fraley, Jr.; four children, Lea Beth Fraley Bowers and husband Larry of Rich Creek, Charles L. “Bubbie” Fraley, III and wife Peggy of Narrows, Marie Fraley Gee and husband Jeff of Lynchburg, Joe Fraley and wife Karen of Pearisburg; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Brewster and Judy Wason (Harry); four nephews, Joe Brewster (Frances), Loren Brewster, Adam Peachee (Sarah), and Bruce Peachee (Vanessa); and two nieces, Nancy Brewster, Karen Boyer (Art).

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 17th, 2016 at 10 AM at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); 605 Memorial Boulevard in Narrows, followed at 11 AM by the funeral service with Ronnie Abshire, Minister and Rev. Jim McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
