Forrest, Laura Jennifer
Laura Jennifer Forrest, of Blacksburg, Virginia passed away Monday, October 20, 2014. Her smile was what you remembered. Even as a baby, she was always smiling. Born on a beautiful evening on May 21, 1968 in Michigan, we said goodbye to my beloved big sister, Laura Forrest, Sunday, October 19, 2014.
Laura was a generous spirit, always opening her home and her heart. She will be missed by many friends and family. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School (1986) and went on to be a Hokie, graduating from Virginia Tech’s theater department in1990. An avid Hokie fan through and through, Laura was an active member and leader of her alumni association in Orlando, Florida where she lived for over twenty years. She worked for Disney at their Grand Floridian Hotel for many of those years and it was those years that solidified her hospitality and entertaining energy. She loved it when anyone would come to visit her in Florida, taking them to enjoy the warm Florida sites and especially, to enjoy the wonder of Disney.
Following her stint in Florida, Laura moved back to our adopted home of Virginia where she worked for the Inn at Virginia Tech and then at the Dish Network. She is resting now with our father, Joseph Forrest, who passed away in 2005.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Debra and Richard Krutchkoff; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Nathan Snyder; brother and sister-in-law, Jarrett and Crystal Forrest; step-sister, Barbara Krutchkoff, step-sister and brother-in-law, Robin Krutchkoff and Zane Mitchell; step-brother, Dan Krutchkoff; nieces and nephews, Rachael Krutchkoff, Bryan and Keith Mitchell, Rebecca and Elliot Snyder and Sydney and Michael Forrest; maternal grandparents Roy and Lou Jarrett and many family members in Michigan and throughout the U.S.Laura will be cremated.
A Memorial to celebrate her life will take place in May, 2015 at the family home in Blacksburg, Virginia.
