Flinchum, Ila Dorcus Montgomery

Ila Dorcus Montgomery Flinchum, 84, of Radford, Va., went to her reward on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. She was born in Fries, Va., daughter of Joseph and Anna Myrtle Montgomery. She was the wife of Elmer Flinchum who passed away in 1972.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Deborah Flinchum of Viewtown, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Gary Jones of Claytor Lake; granddaughter, Stacy Simms of Jersey City, N.J.; grandsons, Nathan Flinchum and wife, Stephanie, of Roanoke, Preston Simms of Christiansburg and Bruce Flinchum of Viewtown, Va. Also surviving is her sister and husband, Jolene and Jack Archibald of Kalispell, Mont.; brothers, Curtis Montgomery of Pulaski County and Tommy Montgomery of Roanoke.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Junior, Howard and Shirley Joe Montgomery; sisters, Beulah Mae Montgomery and Louise Akers; and stepmother, Sadie White.

She was a lifetime resident of Radford. She worked in her youth during World War II at the RAAP and retired as a lab technician from Brad Ragan Rubber Company. She pent her retirement traveling throughout the United States and delighted in the fact she visited every state. She was known for her giving spirit and the family would like to thank all of her caregivers who so graciously gave back to her during her last years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Radford Worship Center with Dr. Hal Adams officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery, Radford. The family will receive visitors on Friday, December 14, 2007 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home between 5 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution be made to HIS Provision Food Ministry, Radford Worship Center, 1820 Second Street, Radford, Va.
