Flinchum, Ethel

Ethel (Ms. Ethel) (Grams) (Nan-Nan) Flinchum, 94, of Radford, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2011. Born on February 1, 1917, in Floyd, Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Henry Flinchum and Delphia Hylton Flinchum. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noah Flinchum in 1987; son-in-law, Donald Richard Mabry; sister, Alice F. Young; and brothers Oscar, Elmer, and Raymond Flinchum. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Barbara F. and Dale Elkins, of Radford, Va., and Rachel F. Mabry, of Radford, Va.; grandson, Douglas Marvin Elkins, of Radford, Va.; great-grandson, Cameron Elkins, of Floyd, Va.; greatgranddaughter, Eleshia N. Elkins, of Floyd, Va.; sister-in-law, Blanche F. Kanode, of Christiansburg, Va.; brother-in-law, Judson Young, of Christiansburg, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; her church family; and friends and neighbors also survive. She was retired from Radford Community Hospital with 20 years service. She enjoyed being a homemaker, making quilts, and helping others. She was a longtime member of The Radford Church of Christ. We would like to thank New River Valley Carilion Hospice for their excellent care of mom. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at The Radford Church of Christ on 8th and Robertson Street, Radford with John Croft and Rudolph Shelburne officiating.
